Beautiful Budapest
by Ken on Apr.06, 2011, under Photography
Here are some street portraits I took with my old analog camera when I was in Budapest a couple of days ago. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this – waiting for the pictures to come back almost made me go crazy! Also, taking only the old analog camera with me was a great experience. I took around 40 pictures – no more! That’s about what I fire away within the first five minutes of a normal shoot with the digital slr. I love the timeless quality of these pictures: Some of them could have been taken 50 years ago – and you couldn’t tell the difference. Another thing I love about shooting analog is the fact that I am allowed to make mistakes. Well, of course I try to avoid as many as I can – but when I did a mistake, so what? These pictures are far from perfect and yet I am truly happy with them and had a great time shooting them. Maybe you can share some of my enthusiasm!
Barcelona, finally!

Life is good

I said that before – it’s just great to have great friends. ‘Cause those great friends are cool with coming with you and have a great time doing some sunset backlit shots somewhere in the fields around Darmstadt. I’ve had this kind of look going through my head all day and it felt great to turn it into a reality (that kind of reality that ends with .CR2, that is). I wish I could do this kind of thing way more often. Trying different lighting situations, angles, techniques… this is, to my mind, what you need to do to become a good photographer.
These pictures were all natural light, I just brought my little gold reflector with me to bounce some of the sunlight back into the face.
