WM 2010 Street Portraits

I took the opportunity of yesterday’s match Germany-Serbia (which Germany has lost 0:1) to try my brand new second hand 5D with my 50mm f/1.8 lens by doing some street portraits. Well, we lost the game, but the general mood was still good. Being a big fan of and inspired by Markus Schwarze who takes one picture of a complete stranger every day, I approached some fans and asked whether I could take their picture. I met a woman who tried to catch some portraits using a 300mm lens – in my opinion, that just doesn’t work. I prefer to ask nicely, even if it might be a little awkward at first… at least that’s how I like to do “street photography” – this actually calls for another post about this topic. I’ll post it here soon.

I love that smooth bokeh – and the lens behaves really well on the full frame sensor. Oh, by the way – I did manage to meet one sad soccer fan…
